Holds relatively well on Urethane series Powerblocks

I purchased these because I own the Powerblock U-90s, which only increase in 5lb increments after you exhaust the 2.5lb cylindrical “adder weights”. They don’t stick to the urethane series as well as they do the classic non-urethane PBs, but the 1.25lb platemates hold with more than enough strength to eliminate any fear whatsoever of them sliding/falling off. Do keep them clean (dust/dirt free) though, as any dust on the magnetic surface of the platemate will hinder the magnetism, and possibly promote “sliding”.

Great idea, but pricey!

I was pleasantly surprised at these. I have 5 and 2.5 plates for my DB/BB sets, but wanted something to be able to increment at a total of 2.5 # when I was feeling my way to a higher rep weight, since my min reps for any particular exercise is 15 (over multiple sets!) and the max (to date) is 48. While these little gems are really effective because they (a) do the job of allowing a small increment, (b) are made well and will likely hold up over a long period, and (c) are magnetic, they are rather pricey! If the manufacturer would reduce them to some degree, I’d probably have another pair and would even consider giving to a few other people I know who would use them as I do.

These are just what I was looking for. I have no idea what other reviewers are complaining about. So long as you attach these to metal weights, they are secure. Buying another set right now!

It is everything I expected

I am a personal trainer with my own studio. These magnets are perfect for the increments between on my dumbells that are 5 pounds apart. For some exercises 5 pounds is a big jump. These magnets simply add 1.25 pounds on each end of a dumbell for a total of 2.5 lbs. I got 2 pairs one pair for each dumbell. Now I have twice as many weights to choose from. The magnets can hold a 20 pound dumbell for a second. They do not work very well on plastic coated weights. They work well on selectorized weight machines. It shows on the box that it works on olympic bars but they do not fit. The hole is too small just like other reviews said. I would not use these on olympic bars anyways they cost too much for that. If that is what you want just get 1.25 pound plates.

Works well with PowerBlock U-series

I saw conflicting reports of whether these would work with the PowerBlock Urethane dumbbells. They not only stick, but they are also fairly solid and do not move around during use. Overall very pleased.
