Easy to grip plates

Great plates that are easy to grip and hold. I store them on CAP Barbell 2″ Plate Rack and use them primarily with a 7′ CAP Barbell Solid ECO Bar. There were some imperfections with the paint in a few areas, but really nothing to worry about. The approximate plate diameters are 5.75″ for 2.5lbs, 9.25″ for 10lbs, 11.0″ for 25lbs, 14.0″ for 35lbs, and 16.25″ for 45lbs.

Cancer Free Lifts

I ordered 6 of these so far (2×25, 2×10, 2×2.5) and my bodyweight scale measured each 25# one as 25.0 lbs on the nose. It’s not a hyper-accurate scale, but it’s relatively accurate to within +- 0.2 lbs. I plan to order 45s, 35s, and 5s to complete my set.

Reasonably Accurate for Price

I got two plates so far. They were 43 lb. 13 oz. and 44 lb. 13 oz. I have an accurate to the 1/2 ounce baby/toddler scale. I am pretty happy with that especially considering the price.

Nice plates but the 45s are undersize.

I have these in 2.5#-45#, the 45# are smaller diameter than all of my other 45# plates which can be frustrating. The 25# and 35# seem to be about the same diameter as other brand 25s/35s so I’m not sure why the 45s are smaller. (Even from other Cap Barbell models). This is mostly a problem for Deadlifting where, if you’re using just these plates, you’re going to be at a small deficit, or if you’re using them with other brand plates, the other brand plates are carrying more weight. If you’re not doing lifts off the floor, the smaller diameter shouldn’t matter.

Work great for me.

Pleasantly surprised after reading some negative reviews.

Low quality casting and painting, but for what you are paying these are just fine

Bought two of these in the 5 lb size, two in the 2.5 lb size. The 2.5 pound weights actually weighs 2.53 and 2.59. The 5 lb weights are a lot farther off — 5.29 and 5.49.The casting around the hole is rough, particularly bad on one of them, but all were able to slide onto my Ohio bar. They are ugly, roughly cast and poorly painted, but the actual weight is reasonably close to the advertised weight (especially on the 2.5 size) and they were just a few dollars apiece with free shipping. I cannot complain. I wouldn’t want a whole set of these, but for little fractional sizes they fit the bill exactly.

do the job, great price

I have a pair of 45’s and a pair of 5’s, with a set of 10’s on the way (if Amazon ever ships them). The plates I have are great. They arrived in good shape, although the packaging for one of the 45’s was trashed. Mine don’t have the defects mentioned by others, although one of mine had some very small, relatively sharp burrs near the edge that were easily rubbed off by hand. I’m not sure if it was metal or just paint. I recommend looking them over closely or gently feeling around the surfaces to make sure there aren’t any little burrs or sharp pieces that might surprise you. Otherwise they are smooth and fit my barbell without issue. Weights are accurate. They have stood up to being banged around on my cement floor without issue.

I clank them together all the time, and the paint holds up well. And they attract themselves to the dense earthen core with about 5 lbs of pressure at sea level. I suspect that it is due to being filled with lots of higgs bosons. I am going to chisel it apart and see if I can find any… but only after I get chiseled myself!

Seeing how good of a deal these plates were I ordered 2 …

So here is the deal. I bought 4 of these thru Amazon. First thing I did was to measure the diameter and weigh them. 2 of the plates weighed an exact 45 and the 2 other were 44.5. The diameters for all of them were 17 inches vs a standard plate 17.3/4 inches. So when you set the bar on the floor with the CAP 45s there is less than half inch deficit compared to a standard deadlift bar setup. This is a none issue for me since I’m not a competitive lifter. But here is the deal. Seeing how good of a deal these plates were I ordered 2 more 45s which were returned due to damage during transit by UPS. So I wanted to try my luck at Walmart and ordered more plates from there. Plates from Walmart were inferior quality. They had bumps and blemishes all over. Their diameter were slightly smaller @16.3/4 inches, and they weighed 44 lbs. So I don’t know if these plates are a hit or miss based on the batch you are going to receive but the ones I received from Amazon for much less than a buck per pound were definitely a great deal.
Had I wrote this review a month earlier it would be four stars. The plates are different sizes and range in weight from 44-46 lbs. I can live with that. The real problem with these plates that I discovered is the sizing of the center hole. It’s too big. It makes a difference once you have a few of these on the bar. The slop from the hole makes it a lot harder to keep the bar in place and hold good form throughout the lift. I recently swapped these out for a couple of bumper plates that had much better tolerance for the center hole and the different was incredible. I am now using these plates as the counter weight on my rack.
